What is AJBS?

The Association of Japanese Business Studies (AJBS) is an international association of professionals actively pursuing the exchange of information and ideas concerning the Japanese business system and its economic, social and cultural environment. Membership includes academic scholars doing research and teaching related to Japan, as well as government and business executives interested in those issues. Our members are from over 18 different countries.

Our Objectives

Understand

We want to provide a greater understanding of the Japanese business system

Research

We want to foster high quality, original research

Disseminate

We want to facilitate the dissemination of information about the Japanese business system

Advance

We want to advance the study of Japanese business as a comparative and integrated field of study

Annual Meetings

Members meet each summer in an intimate conference setting before the larger Academy of International Business meetings. The conferences are set back-to-back, with AIB lending much valued support that enables AJBS to continue to have a conference at a reasonable cost. AIB & AJBS are separate entities and attendance at our conference requires registration for both conferences and being a member in current standing (generally through the month the conference is) in both organizations. By attending AJBS you save travel expenses by attending 2 conferences concurrently.  The proceedings of the conference are available as a free PDF download.
